Advanced Placement Psychology

This course is an integrated introduction to Psychology, the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. In addition to the study of the history of Psychology, contemporary approaches and methods of research will be examined. Major domains of the discipline will be integrated into the following five themes: Physiological Basis of Behavior, Cognition, Social Behavior, Development, and Individual Differences. Within these areas the following will be studied in depth: Physiology and Behavior, Motivation, Learning, Sensation, Perception, Memory, Thinking and Knowledge, Language and Cognition, Social Psychology, Human Development, Intelligence and Mental Abilities, Personality, Abnormal Behavior, and Treatment of Psychological Disorders.
